We of the RACONTEUR have strived as an organization within the college, to produce and keep abreast with this progressive spirit and to produce for the student body and friends of the college a more comprehensive yearbook than ever before. To a great many students the RACONTEUR is just a large ledger to which in later years they can re- fer to unbelieving grandchildren that they really did attend college. But to those who produced it and whose talents went into it, the RACONTEUR is not just a book, it is part of them. To the staff the things to be remembered are the experiences they had and the friends they made throughout the year. For the editor, the year has been one of many rewards: good will for an efficient staff, and personal appreciation for the many hours given by Sharon McClanahan, Bette North, Charlene Adkins, Dolores Reynolds, and Harry Weber, who were as anxious as I to see that everything was done right, the feeling of self-confidence that comes from being entrusted by a capable advisor, Ray Hornbackg and the feeling of loyalty inspired by friends who were always ready to help when called upon. For the student body, I hope the year has been fruitful in that it has provided experiences that you will enjoy reliving by reminiscing through the pages of the 1961 RACONTEUR. 1 . H .
