Mr. Bob Xvilkes has taught many of us that similar triangles have equal angles or that Cx+yj fx-yl -x-xy+y. He has also helped many of us leam to drive, no easy task considering the risks. Through all our associations with him, we have felt a current of warm personal interest, an inexhaustible well of patience, and the offer of a helping hand if we needed it. People, you've got to get on the ball he'd say to us, and we knew he meant it. He wanted us to work when it was time to work, and he insisted that we put forth our very best. But he believed in enjoying your- self too, and never failed to wish us a pleasant vacation before a school holiday. M. Morehead High School. VVhen we leave, we shall take with us the memory of his fine teaching ability and his radiant personality. We, the class of 1962, thank him for giving us that memory.

if Because he has carried out his job so well, each student that he taught has taken a little something extra with him when he went. Under 'Mr. Big's' tutorage, a pupil received more than a fundamental knowl- edge of grammar and a basic appreciation of literature. It would be hard to put a label on this intangible shove in the right direction that 'Mr. Gig' gave us, but no matter what we call it, we, the class of 1962, thank him for so invaluable a gift. It would seem that a man with the name Raleigh Rutherford Biggerstaff would be a true and perfect gentle knight of Chaucer, or a bosom cohort of Shakespear, or a writer about red roses like Robert Burns. But he is not. He is something even greater . . . an English teacher. Into us, as an otherwise chaotic class of sophomores, he instilled a sense of honor and chivalry. As we rose to be juniors, he guided the budding literary geniuses toward publication in the bloom of their work. And to seniors, he pointed out that true love is not really like a red, red rosei' because it, unlike a flower, never withers and dies. It's a lifetime proposition, this business of education. an earnest 'Mr. Big' has often told us. He has devoted his life 'to molding, the minds and spirits of others, proving each day how important he thinks the task really is. ,dfwLc!!z,2J X
