THE EXPLORER It's a bird - lt's a plane! No, it's the Explorer staff led by Mr. Marek Breiger. The l985-86 school year was Mr. Breiger's second year as advisor to the staff. This year there were about 50 writers in two classes. The classes voted on a magazine format for the paper. This meant that instead of news on the cover there was a photo essay. The basic response to this decision was a positive one. Writer Renza Celotti had this to say about her experience on the part w Brenna Craig gerlin. the pa we've paper, lt was fun to write the articles. but the be s seeing them in the paper. Editors this year wen M. Harmuth, Keith 'Switz' Switzer. Bobby Robel owe. Patsy Alvarez, Julie Fitzpatrick, and Debbie F lot of people put in a great deal of time to help ma er a success and in the words of Mr. Breiger, l thi one a good job. .4-r' il! tt I. Stacy Fegard takes time out to think of a catchy opening line. 6. Jeff Marshall. Bobby Robello. Mr. Breiger. Paul Zendeias Craig Rowe critique The Explorer. 7. Jeff Fisher gets ideas from another newspaper. 8. Eric Archuletta finds a humorous article. 9. Renza Celotti. Nannette Tavares take a break from writing stories. IO, Trudi Meyer and Michelle Nolan study interview techniques from the book Working'C II. Three the Explorers writers: Julie Fitzpatrick, Kelly Pratt. and Paul Espeio.

La Chevre and a new wave film called Subway, both new releases from France, are but two of the movies the club has seen this year. There was one play the club attended during November in San Francisco. It was a play by Moliere called The Imaginary lnvalid. The group has also seen a French video of short stories by Guy de Y I. Siegel, and SecretaryfTreasurcr: Maria Estrada. 3. A part ol the French Culture: le Tour Eiffel. 4. The President of the I-rench Club: Jennifer O'NeaI. N I at' ' 4A 3A LUB Moupassant. Yet, the French are not only known for their movies or plays but also, for their fine cuisine, The members had small cook-ins where they were able to cook and taste dishes like crepes and quiche. As the years have gone by, the growth of membership in the French Club has increased. The ideas of the club have also matured and the members have greatly benefitted from the club and its activities.
