gk sit A -.4 ' g , .I . . . .1 Eff f ZA l i Q ,dw-1 Due to controversy over the point system for last years Spirit Week, a new one was made up with spirit and halls worth more points. Last year the juniors won the Spirit Stick yet came in third overall. Now with the new system, the class with the most spirit has a good chance to win the Spirit Week. This years' Spirit Week was one of the best in recent years as everyone yelled their lungs out and dressed up in funny cos- tumes. After fierce competition, the Seniors of 86 took first with the Sophomores second, the Juniors third, and the Fresh- men a close fourth. The themes for Spirit Week were the following: Seniors were Senior International. the Juniors chose Junior Jukebox, the Sophomores had Sophomore L.A. and the Freshmen decided to have Freshman Safari. With those themes the dress up competi- tion looked to be close and it was with the Seniors taking a slight lead with 47.75 points. Overall, Spirit Week was a big success. It was a year of the Seniors having to clean up their toilet paper mess for the first time ever. Also, it is the last Spirit Week that has classes all in the eighties. as next years freshmen will be the class of I990. lf next years Spirit Week is as successful as this years, the class of 90 is in for a treat. .E -J K .Yr -4 aff' 'W' c g , x .V Z .. 6 Q 44 X 5A CATEGORY FRESHMEN SOPHOMORES JUNIORS SENIORS HALLS 45.25 43.25 56.75 59.75 GAMES 35.00 35.w 39.00 39.00 SPIRIT, 48.50 50.75 30.75 54.25 Ckallyj SPIRIT 5.00 7.00 6.00 7.75 fDemonstrationj DRESS-LIP 39.50 43.50 36.25 47.75 SKIT 3I.25 34.50 36.50 47.25 PENNY JUGS 34.00 36.00 38.00 40.00 DANCE ATTEN. 36.00 40.00 34.00 38.00 TOTALS 274.50 290.w 277.25 333.75 21

Even though we were defeated by De La Salle 60- 22, Moreau Spirit prevailed. Even when the score was 49-3 in the first half, everyone stayed and cheered anyway. The students and fans really supported us even though we weren't winning and I think that's the whole idea of school spirit , said varsity football player Glenn Baxley. - The good sportsmanship carried over to the dance the following day. The Moreau community cheered on Dixie Harrison and Jeff Marshall as they took the Homecoming Throne.
