Facing The hallenge! The I986 Boys Varsity Track Team is led this year by Head Coach Phil Wilder and seven assistant coaches who give a great deal of time and support to the team. Each one of the coaches lead a specific event. Phil Wilder is in charge of the distance runners while Matt O'Brien coaches the sprinters and Joe Martin coaches hurdles. Coaches for the field events include Todd Anderson Cshot put and discusj, Mike Ferguson Cpole vaultj, Darrin Wright Clong and triple jumpl and Saun- dra Keister Chigh jumpj. Coach Wilder's philosophy is Everyone should be encouraged to work to the best of their ability within the team concept, at the same time indivi mete This ual improvement is a priority. Last year the 4m relay team qualified for the State Track Meet. year the team hopes to go back to the State Meet in mo. e than just one event. The sprinters on the track are returning Varsity runners: Joe Farrish, Jeff Chi- mient Paul E State: mann Smith Squire Jump. . Dan Osanna. Vince Aguilar, Jeff Marshall and spejo. About I out of every IO students at Moreau joins the track team. These students form a committed and close group. They work long and hard while going through two weeks of strenuous conditioning which include a 2-mile run, wind sprints, running up and down hills. stretches, etc. just to qualify for the team. Some of those students who come together for track form the J.V. Boys Track Team. The J.V. Boys Track Team is looking forward to a good I985-86 season. There are a number of returning members as well as many new comers. I.
