Start Strong, End Stronger! The JV Volleyball team started the season with hopes of finishing lst in league. At the culmination of the season that hope was realized. With 7 returning players the team was strong from the start and proved it with a Ist place trophy at the Cal High Tournament as Chris Raasch and Katie Sweeney were named to the all tourney team. After a I5-2 season, the JV's hope to avenge their losses next year as they seek an undefeated league title. Returning players this year were Julie Barr, Melody Bar- bour, Chris Raasch, Katie Sweeney, Marjorie Szto, DeeAnn q pl -4. Louis. Guzm Silva, the en Carus and K team. and Brenda Hyde. Newcomers were sophomore Beth n and freshmen Juli Caruso, Carrie Henderson, Tina Jlelanie Ballecer and Melinda Szto. Those recognized at d of the season are Chris Raasch-Most Valuable, Juli -Most Improved, Melody Barbour-Most Inspirational, tie Sweeney-Coaches Award. On behalf of the entire Captains Chris Raasch. The Boy's Varsity Basketball Team of I985-86 is rath- er young, with only four returnees from last year: sen- ior Bob Zumwalt, senior Carlos Zertuche, and the team's co-captains, senior Mike Hansen and Junior Tim Slone. Also on the team are two seniors new to varsity: Aaron Smallwood and Dan Squiers. The remaining eight play- ers have moved up from last year's .IV and Frosh teams. Although most of the boys are new to the grueling work of varsity, their Moreau Spirit and enthusiasm has not diminished. , ,pair G yyilfiw' IJ. Bob Zumwalt and Dan Slone look aghast as they are left behind by their enemies on the court. 23. The St. Clement's second- graders literally bring the mighty Mariners to their knees. 35.
