Shannon Pratt Arlene Hood, the director of Moreau's production of You Can't Take it with You , has been involved in drama since she was a teenager, appear- ing in productions at her high school and at the Hayward Little Theatre. Arlene attend- ed Cal State Hayward as an Acting!Directing major, and earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Theatre Arts. She has been directing plays since 1979, when she directed her first full-length play, lv1y Three Angels, at Cal State. ln addition to directing at Cal State and the Hayward Little Theatre, Arlene has served as the Program Director at Chil- dren's Fairyland, has directel small television productions and has directed plays for lvl' Eden. ln early 1985 she actel in and was the assistant direc tor for The Wiz at Cal State You Can't Take it with You was Arlene's first productio at Moreau. lay lContinuedj

The 'every-man-for-himself room also almost becomes the setting for the breakup for the omance of one of Mr. Vanderhof's grand- iaughters, because of severe differences be- ween the two families. By the end of the mlay, however, all involved have learned a 'aluable lesson: You can't take it with you. 'You Can't Take it with You was directed by Arlene Hood, with student director Kim Krupka, and costumes by Valerie Ragland. vtoreau's 1985 Spring Musical was Once Jpon a Mattress, also directed by Arlene lood. The Drama Club encourages oreauthespians to come out of le closet! These are the words 1 Drama Club President Kim yrupka. The Moreau Drama lub was founded in 1984, and, .still going strong in its second ear. The club enables students l work on acting and perform- g skills by allowing them first and experience. Aside from im- 'ovisations and working on act- g skills, club members attend plays and explore the many vari- ations of theatre. The Drama Club honors students displaying exceptional skills in drama with a block M. The Block M program for Drama is some- thing new at Moreau. In the words of Block M coordinator Erika Baerwald, Originally Block letters were offered only for athletic achievement. Howev- rama Club er, after many compromises, Drama Club members are eligi- ble for the M . The Drama Block System is based on points, which are earned through play participation, meeting at- tendance, and other club activi- ties. As of January 1985, three Drama Club members, Kim Krupka, Erika Baerwald, and John Weaver, have earned a Block M in Drama. U The Moreau Drama Club. 21 Drama Club Royalty: Vice President!
