The 'every-man-for-himself room also almost becomes the setting for the breakup for the omance of one of Mr. Vanderhof's grand- iaughters, because of severe differences be- ween the two families. By the end of the mlay, however, all involved have learned a 'aluable lesson: You can't take it with you. For here meals are eaten, plays are written, snakes collected, ballet steps practiced, xylophones played, printing presses oper- ated - if there were room enough there would probably be ice skating. Shannon Pratt Arlene Hood, the director of Moreau's production of You Can't Take it with You , has been involved in drama since she was a teenager, appear- ing in productions at her high school and at the Hayward Little Theatre. Arlene attend- ed Cal State Hayward as an Acting!Directing major, and earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Theatre Arts. She has been directing plays since 1979, when she directed her first full-length play, lv1y Three Angels, at Cal State. ln addition to directing at Cal State and the Hayward Little Theatre, Arlene has served as the Program Director at Chil- dren's Fairyland, has directel small television productions and has directed plays for lvl' Eden. ln early 1985 she actel in and was the assistant direc tor for The Wiz at Cal State You Can't Take it with You was Arlene's first productio at Moreau. lay lContinuedj
