..,,, , I PROLCGUE It is our main intent to present to y.ou, the students of Moravian College, a chronicle of achievements and memories of this past year. We have tried to recall in pictures and print the important and the trivial events, b.oth of which are common to our college year. Who can forget, for example, the dinks, neck ties, and name but- tons of hazing, the Student Union ground break- ing ceremonies, and the delayed construction of the building, the Freshman bonfire fand accom- panying difficultiesj, the Freshman-Sophomore rope pull in the fall, Clewell Hall's football player that was sacked by students from near-by insti- tutions Cwe thinkj, and the archeological find otherwise known as the Sigma Phi Omega pyra- mid in the I-F decoration contest. A big event for us was the election campaign of 1960 with the visit of Candidate Kennedy to our campus, the political debates held behind Comenius Hall, and the mock election and letter from Vice President Nixon. Of course there were also the dances presented by SAC in Johnston Hall with music by Matt Gillespie and his orchestra, and the pictures taken by the photographers fyou'll see them in a few momentsj. APO with its Ugly Man and Snow Sculpture contests fwho will forget Yogi Bear on his way to the Learateria?J, the statue of Comenius advertising things we'd best not mention, the USG elections, football games with their sun, rain, teams, cheers, and band Cwhat band ?J, the basketball games with Kosman running up im- possible point totals, and baseball games with Blahut's home runs. . .have all, now, become memories. We'll never forget that this was the year that the snow became so deep that school was closed for a few days and even exams were postponed. Nor can we forget the fabulous trip to Washing- ton, D. C., sponsored by PAC. And then there was the birth of the radio station with its music to study by, the donkey basketball game competing with Toynbee's lec- ture in town, the big changes in the administra- tion fthree new Vice Presidents, no lessb the new Independent Study program to augment the Honors program, the For Sale sign in front of Comenius Hall, the choir at home and mostly away, the Italian Fiat in the hall of Comenius Hall, the graduation of the last of the four year business secretarial majors, the failure of the organ at commencement, -and work, work, work, term papers, coffee breaks, classes and more classes, blue books, finals, dates, books. books, books. It was quite a year, and this is the way we saw it.
