WILLIAM HAUPERT In Memoriam It may seem to be a bitter whim of fortune that peremptorily quenches the bright flame of youth when there are more mountains to climb, more conquests to be made, new altitudes to be gained where the air, though thin, is sweet, and the stars are close, and freedom takes on primitive and wonderful dimensions - dimensions such as men today seldom can know because the risks are great and they grow old too young. But how many among us have climbed a mountain in our lives - symbolic or literal? How many among us have heeded the call, reflected in Robert Frost's famous lines? - Two roads converged in the wood, and I . . .
