Change may be predictable or it may be sudden, it may be rhythmic or revolutionary, silent or explosive. We both ob- serve and experience it constantly though its processes are obscure. The how of growth Will be solved by scientists, but its existence is quite obvious. The class of 1948 will soon be alumnae. They will change their statusp their interests will inevitably shift: their horizons will be altered. They will be the same, yet not the same. How altered they are from what they were as children or even as freshmen! Their funded experiences in and out of classroom, labora- tory and library have made them what they are. Sentiments and memories belong to the- past, but they help to color the future. For life is ongoing Whether placid or torrential. You Will carry with you what you have been. ln each of you there is a core of being, malleable and ductile. It Will act upon its environ- ment and be reacted upon by all that it encounters. The manner of this con- junction Will be the test of the value of your education. Do not be afraid of the unknown. lt contains a challenge to faith. lt need never be monotonous. A life which is humbly dutiful to God and serviceable to man, irradiated and energized by love, can meet the future hopefully. You may be confident that however circumstances may change or situations alter, the changes within may be progressively from grace to grace and at last will melt into the fullness of the glory of heaven itself. After four years of close association with Moravian College tor Women, you, the members of the class of l948, can look back on many experiences which have become the woot of the fabric oi your lives. Perhaps you regret that the design you have been weaving is not stronger in texture, nor more vivid in color. Couple such an idea with the thought, that because of your college experience, you will have the opportunity to select more discreetly what you weave into the unfolding warp of the future. Through the years that are to come, may the strand of loyalty and devotion to your Alma Mater, which has been so characteristic of you individually and as o class, continue in your new designs for living. A great Moravian depends upon daughters like you, who will keep their interest in her future alive and active. The influence of a college as a creative and stabilizing force in the lite of a nation and of the world is commensurate with the character, interests and service of its graduates.
