Nlma liffwiea Where the belfry looms majestic In the storied Bethlehem town, Where melodious trombone glory From the stars comes grandly down, Stands our stately alma mater With a story fine and old: We salute thee, queenly mother, Hail, the Purple and the Gold! Fair Moravian, We revere thee. Mother of our tender youth, We have caught thy heart's affection, We have learned thy mind's great truth Thou hast Wrought eternal friendships, Filled our souls with joys untold: Hail, beloved Moravian College: Hail, the Purple and the Gold! Though We live Where glow the tropics, Dwell Where shines an icy sea, Like thy green immortal ivy Our fond hearts shall cling to thee: Banisher of care and sadness, Guardian of the Light of Old, Hail forever, dear Moravian, Hail, the Purple and the Gold! -Words by Charles K. Meschter Music by T. Edgar Shields

UR chapel has been the nu- cleus of our life at Moravian. In our first chapel program as freshmen We were impressed with ideals of Mora- vian which broadened our vision and helped us to decide just what We could contribute to the college during our stay here. We became better acquainted with our president, our dean, and our class- mates in the daily worship programs con- ducted in the chapel, and it was there that We saw for the first time the beautiful Mo- ravian Christmas candlelight service. As sophomores and juniors We came to use our chapel more and more for many other activities, as well as for religious Zzaaewaacf worship. How Well We remember the club meetings, the rehearsals for our musicals, the guest speakers, and the presentations of our plays. When as seniors We now look back on these four years at Moravian, our thoughts invariably turn to the chapel in which We prayed and sang together. lt is for this reason that proudly We choose our Mora- vian College chapel as the theme of this, the yearbook of the class of l948. And so We think of our ivy-covered chapel as We recall our Loyalty Song: So Moravian we long love and cherish thee, And the belfry we'l1 ever adore. While the ivy still clings to thine ancient Walls, In our hearts We'll be true evermore.
