One of the dictionary definitions of SPIRIT is “en- thusiastic loyalty.” This year's Mora High School cheerleaders have far exceeded that definition. A total of 30 girls cheering for five sports involving eight teams were not only enthusiastic, but energetic, talented, and most of all, dedicated. Some of our highlights this year were: 1. Carol Bergstadt, Kelly Dickinson, Kathy Fore, Tracey Hewitt, Judy Sjoberg, and Gigi Smith being awarded the Spirit Stick; the highest award given at a National Cheerleading Association Camp. 2. Having girls' basketball cheerleaders for the first time. 3. Seven year old Jenny Bergloff cheering with the varsity football squad. 4. Kelly Dickinson made a cross-stitch picture with all the names of the 1982-83 cheerleaders. 5. Having “Pac-Man Fever. 6. Having the efforts and dedication of the cheerleaders appreciated and praised by players, coaches, and community. 7. Working with such a talented group of girlsl Winter Cheerleading JV Basketball Top: Sarah Mills. Front: Carol Anderson, Michelle Hallstrom, Jami Anderson, Bobbi Ammerman. Top: Jenny Longworth. This year's successful hockey season left various team members irrevocable memories. “I remember when I joined. The very first day I had to play in a scrimmage, said Tom Humphrey. Brian Schmidt recollected on “the trip up north every year.” Craig Brettingen remembered fondly, “mak- ing the winning goal in overtime against St. John's Prep. “Beating St. Michaels — Albertville, for the first time in hockey,” was Scott Munter's most memorable moment. Coach McCollough had noticeable pride in his manner when he said, “This team was used to winning and continued it right through the season. M.H.S. can be proud of the way these young men represented their school.” We Stick With Hockey Back: Coach George Baldwin, Dan Tracy, Karl Gotfredeon, Dan Thielen, Chria LaCombe, Tom Humphrey, Mark Weinrich, Rob Burk.
