Steve Hallatrom, Jason Sandberg, Mgr. Darin Hendershot. “The most memorable thing I think the team showed was a 38-36 victory over a tough North Branch team. We were behind by 7 points but they never quit playing ball. The team came back to win by 2 points. Our team showed great effort and patience this year and I'm looking forward to a good JV team next year.” 9th grade manager Darrin Hendershot 17

The Mora Mustangs' future in basketball lies in the talents of our junior high teams. This year's junior high groups show a lot of potential. 8th grade boys basketball Coach Antonson remarked that “a number of players have even worked hard in the off-season to improve their skills.” 8th grade girls basketball Coach Bierbrauer said that “im- provements can be seen by looking at the players' statistics.” The seventh grade teams had a few comments on what it was like to play up at the High School. Dean Gorton noted that he liked the High School program ... “a lot better. (Because) there’s not as many people.” And Robin Lick went on to add that he liked it also, because there was “more competition. The seventh grade girls had two teams this year — a red and a blue team. One girl’s player said that the coaching seemed a lot “tougher” but, she liked playing this year. 1982-83 proved to be Mora Wrestling's “year of firsts.” It was the first year to elect 3 captains (Doug Stevens, Wes Hebeisen, and Dan Fore), first year to defeat Pine City (39-27), first year to have 2 cham- pions at the Delano Tournament (Tony Ringler and Shane Gries), and the first year to compete in the Monticello tournament. The team had 8 wrestlers with no previous junior varsity experience and 6 first year wrestlers which was also a sort of first. The team was set back after being afflicted by numerous injuries. But as coach Lewison said, “In- dividual quality was high.” Wrestlers Take 'Em Down Back: Coach Barratt Holmgren, John Kylander, Pat Kant, Jaaon Hebeisen. Wayne Gabrieleon, Jack Felland.
