X-C Track Seem» to me, we'vo come a long way. — Cindy Pittman, Cindy Harrison Got to think about strategy here. — Brad Skillicorn, David Smith This year's Mora Cross Country team was represented in varsity by Steve Cassman, Chris Olson, Steve Sahlstrom and Tim Schwartz. They were never able to post a team score because we have to have at least live runners to obtain a team score, but their standings were impressive nevertheless. Girls Varsity was also unable to post a score and was comprised ol Cindy Har- rison and Cindy Pittman. Wind is gone and my head is in a haze. But, I must keep up the pace. — Ken Rooney

This years running Mustangs moved toward recognition with impressive speed in the 1982-1983 season. By February first, Mora accomplished a ten and one record, This put them at second place in the Rum River Conference behind Chisago Lakes, and earned them the honor of being ranked in the top ten for the state in Class A boys basketball. After two weeks of conditioning Z’s and team of- fensives and defensives, the Mustangs opened against Aitkin. One of Scott Lacher's fondest memories was, “Beating Aitkin when they were ranked number two in the state.” As Dan Gustafson recalled, “We ended up beating them by one point.” Mora continued, beating Pine City, and Princeton before falling to conference favorite Chisago Lakes. After breaking for the holidays, the Mustangs reeled off seven straight victories. This included the regaining of the Goat in the annual Goat Game, and defeating North Branch who’s starting line-up stands at 6 9 , 6 7 , 6 5 , 6 3 , and 6’ 0 .
