Have breakfast with the king! That's how King Mike and Queen Dianne began their reign that memorandus Friday with their royal court. How did it all happen? Homecoming '72 came into being Thurs- day morning, September 28, at 8:30a.m. with a pep fest. Suddenly, at 7:30p.m. that very day, the royalty began their procession. They were led in by Chad Kaddatz and Ann Johnstone, crown bear- er and flower girl. Ex-King Ardy had the honor of handing the traditional sceptor to the new king. The surprised Mike Ingebrand, through his new power, crowned his Queen, Dianne Broehl. Pictures were snapped, recessional played, and the festivities moved on to the snake dance. 10 An experience not to be forgotten powder puff football Football plavers and Pom Pom girls?? Make an interesting game Get those right! Any volunteers? Next, the great bon-fire made out of lumber was lit. That ended Thursday but more was to come on Friday as each princess was carried off to Freddies by her prince for breakfast with the King and Queen. The after- noon brought a long pep fest and the powder puff football game, starring the Junior and Senior girls; the Seniors winning. However, that night the Mighty Mustangs suffered a lose to the Milaca Indians which dampened the spirit of our sport fans. It came back only as the dance came into full swing. The theme was Sugar and Spice and everythings OKAY! And it was! Keep that fire going 11 prom 1973: colour my world Colour My World was the theme of the 1973 prom and banquet. At approximately 7:30 the banquet was served by underclassmen serving as waiters and waitresses in the upper level of the Catholic Parish Center. The invocation was given by Rev. Martin C. Olson with Roger Nieboer serving as Master of Ceremonies and Jeff Saari as the banquet speaker. Festivities following the banquet included folk music in the upper level by Reid Hendershot and dancing music in the lower level by the band Colla. The evening was ended by a late night movie. It marked the beginning of the annual Senior Skip Day, an event coveted by every other class. At 8:30 sharp the busses were boarded and off for Shingwauk for a day of fun and ad- venture. They arrived a little before noon and were wined and dined on hamburgers, french fries, and cokes before going AWOL to explore the many activities available to them. Water skiing proved to the hardier souls that the glacial age had not yet left Minnesota. Those who preferred a more tropical atmosphere took to the heated pool and sauna. Escape was made later in the evening, much to the relief of the owners we are sure, but not before throwing Mr. Saari and Mr. Sandy fully clothed into the pool. Arrival back in Mora was at 11:45 and one more Senior Skip Day became history. 70 class favorites MOST TALENTED: Peg Dahlberg Jim Gilbertson MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED: Jill Ketter Brian Raivo CLASS FLIRTS: Nancy Blake Dan Naumann BEST DRESSED: Lynne Ponto Kim Smith PEPPIEST: Barb Olson Tom Hoffman WITTIEST: Barb Fumstahl Gill Strand PRETTIEST EYES: Dianne Broehl Craig Schultz FAVORITE TEACHERS: SCHOOL SPIRIT: SHYEST: MOST STUDIOUS: MOST POPULAR: MOST TALKATIVE: MOST ATHLETIC: BIGGEST SMILE: BEST ALIBIERS: CUTEST COUPLE: Jim Revier Jack Sahlstrom Barb Olson Tom Hoffman Kristi Hallstrom John Norberg Vicki Mathison Craig Bachman Dianne Broehl Mike Ingebrand Karen Eastlund Gill Strand Laura Sorenson Kevin Hallstrom Margie Johnstone Jim Lutz Deb Wallace Tyrone Hendershot Rhonda Rippentrop Lanny Stegeman 72 old times! Commencement exercises 1973 held at Mora High School saw 110 seniors re- ceive diplomas. The speaker, Harry Davis, president of the board of education of the Minneapolis Public Schools encouraged our young people to go out and correct the mistakes of the past. His theme, What the World needs now is love drew a round of applause. Mike Gorham was the class speaker. Principal Robert Lorence introduced the 17 honor students. Cleve Berquist an- nounced the scholarship awards which this year amounted to approximately $100,000, and of course the 1973 seniors were intro- duced to the packed auditorium. The motto selected by the 1973 graduating class is As I grow to understand life less and less, I learn to love it more and more by Jules Renard. They were strong supporters in every phase of Mustang activities. They won bus competition and the yelling competition at the pep fests. They had a great time at their class roller- skating party. The whole school can take pride in how they represent it. 88 Any friends of yours? seventh seventh seventh seventh Gary Allman Stanley Ammerman Susan Ammerman Susanne Ammerman Wendy Ammerman Karen Anderson Elroy Austin Steve Bankers Sabine Bartholdt Jim Bassett Tim Bassett Brenda Beckstrom Karla Berry Dawn Beseman Jodi Besser Brad Blake Linda Burress Wendy Campbell Jon Carda Deb Can- Mark Chamberlain Keith Coes Donita Collins David Craig Danny Dalbey Kathy Dalbey Cindy Doering Shelly Douglas Joby Drazenovich Charlene Dubel 89 IO venth seventh seventh seventh seventh Cindy Eckman Teresa Engblom Betty Erlandson Fred Felland Jay Fladebo Jim Folkema Scott Fritz Mike Funk Julie Gorham Shari Gotfredson Colette Grace Cindy Grahek Ronnie Graves Liz Gray Patti Cries Mike Groth Steve Haeg Brenda Hallin Scott Hallstrom Todd Hallstrom Linda Hanson Paula Hanson Beth Harms Jeff Harms Jodi Hams Tom Haugen Michael Hayes Jeff Hellzen Robert Helmbrecht Jean Hendrickson Heidi Holmes Andrea Humphrey Greg Huro Bruce Hutchinson Richard Jensen Kathy Johnson Dan Johnstone Becky Jones Colleen Kaas Lori Kadlec Err in Keller Mark Kendall Colleen Ketter Mike Kilgore Steve Klapmier Wayne Kopp Edward Kraft Jodi Krogh Jason Kruse Joey Lewis Charlene Loose Martha Loken Dan McClellan Ann Marie McElroy Jan Millsap Barb Molloy Dan Molloy Paula Moody John Myers Jean Narveson Curt Nelson Cindy Nelson Dave Nelson 90 venth seventh seventh seventh seventh Brad Nikodym Barb Norberg Chuck Nordstrom Jeff Norgaard Linda Oestreich Kim Olen Brenda Olson Denise Oquist Curtis Orton Sanda Oslin Harold Ostendorf Janet Oswald Randy Peterson Judy Pladsen Julie Raines Jeff Reese Barb Reichart Becky Reynolds Allen Ringer Robin Saathoff Bob Sawyer Kim Wolfe Chuck Young Mary Jo Yankowiak Dale Youngquist Karen Zellman Leslie Schultz Mike Schultz Louise Smith Tim Smith Lori Sogn Diane Springer Danny Stegeman Rhonda Stegeman David Strandland James Strandland Sarah Street Rose Sundermeyer Allen Taylor Lori Telander Mike Tharp Lori Theis Shirley True Jeri VanVleet Jerry VanderVegt Deb W ahl Jerry Wall Jim Wallace Laura Walters Tom Warner Dave Weseloh Janice Whiteford Jeff Whiteside Lennae Wilson With new freedoms come new pressures, new classes, new teachers and friends, lockers, and a new building to adjust to. This is what our seventh grade class found as they made the transition from Fairview Elementary to Central High School. The year's high point for many came with a week trip to the environmental learning center at Camp Isabella where they studied, our environment as well as how to keep their chaperones up all night. They hope the next year will be as profitable. 91 administration and secretaries Pius J. A. vocational school set up in the old Lakeland Dairy build- ing offered an extention to the courses previously offered to our students. It was set up as a cooperative effort by the Braham, Isle, Ogilvie, and Mora school districts in hopes of pre- paring our students better for their future vocational choices. However, new ideas always present new problems and the opening of the school year found only half of the equipment such as type writers for the business classes etc. ready and waiting for use. The building also was badly in need of remodeling and this had not yet been completed to the point that some classes had to remain in the high school where there was really no room for them either. Remodelling continued through- out the year and equipment continued to filter in as students and teachers alike proved their versatility by making do with what was available. In spite of all the handicaps the program was a success and most students also learned how to travel six blocks at a dead run in a blinding snow storm in five minutes and still show up for class at Central reasonably composed. 97 it has been an 98 unusual year in m ELAINE We lost a dear one, we We'll never forget her, We remember the fun t The smart times, the d Yes, she was a beauty, Only good memories, y 100 all loved her so, wherever we go. imes, and bad times we had, umb times and the times we were glad, so fun and so kind, re'll keep in our mind. -Her Classmates- Dr. F.
