Raines-mgr., Mr. Gilbert- coach Mr. Gilbert coached the 9th grade basket- ball team to 6 wins and 5 losses. The teams' high scorers were Doug Furnstahl and Greg Dewitt, both with 126 points. Jeff Akkerman boosted the team with 89 rebounds. The team averaged 48.5 points per game while keeping the visitors' average down to 38.8 points per game. Whenever help was needed, the second string was one of the best in the con- ference. They usually beat out the visi- tors' second string by a good margin. The 8th grade team went in for 4 victo- ries, and received 7 losses. The 7th grade team had the best season of all, with 9 wins and only 2 losses. We hope this is an indication of a great roundball team in the future! 23
