The teams' high scorers were Doug Furnstahl and Greg Dewitt, both with 126 points. Jeff Akkerman boosted the team with 89 rebounds. The team averaged 48.5 points per game while keeping the visitors' average down to 38.8 points per game. Whenever help was needed, the second string was one of the best in the con- ference. They usually beat out the visi- tors' second string by a good margin. The 8th grade team went in for 4 victo- ries, and received 7 losses. This was our one-act play, No Why. It was performed for the student body on Jan. 14, and at the Sub-District contest the 22. For the second straight year they won at Sub-District. Their '72, always one step ahead foot took second place dunng the first annual Sno Daze, and this year won by default, as no other class even attempted to do a snow sculpture. A few seniors got together one warm Feb. night after an afternoon of fluufy snowfall, and came up with a gigantic '72 carved out of the snowbank across from the office. It was the only creative gesture made by students this year except for a small beginning of a mound made by the sophomores. Broom ball tournaments showed the superiority of the seniors, as they defeated the freshman, and then the juniors for the championship. They also had very good participation in basketball, football, wrestling, track, crosscountry, golf, hockey, and baseball. The girls were active in cheerleading, pom pons, basket- ball, and other clubs. They also became the first Junior class to hold a homecoming dance in the all-purpose room.
