Grammar Speaks At Athletic Banquet The annual Athletic Banquet was held May 6. Mr. Lutz introduced the grad- uating seniors, and told what sports they had participated in while they had been in school. After the sen- iors were introduced, the coaches were mentioned, and Mr. Dies gave us a review of the 1967 foot- ball season and a preview of the 1968 track season. Mr. Lutz then introduced the main speaker of the evening, Don Grammar. The Athletic Banquet ended with the presentation of the Don Erickson memorial award. This year six boys were named as candidates for the award. They were Dan Hallstrom, Greg Yankowiak, Jack Gilbertson, Don Olson, Charles Priebe, and Richard Reynolds. The recipient this year was Greg Yankowiak. S. Salmonson, L. Ostrom, D. Olson, M. Manthei. 21

The Ocean Lies Before Us.’ Rev. Warren Holcomb Graduation is drawing near But why an I so scared? What is there for me to fear, Have not I been prepared? I always waited for this day, I could'hardly wait to leave; But now I'd almost rather stay Than face the goals I must achieve. What do I do now, What new problems must 1 face? So long I was dormant, then POW! I'm off and running the human race. Who knows how well I'll do, Least of all, me? If I only had an omniscient view, Then, I'm sure I'd see . . . But could I stand what I saw? Would I take in stride The frightening scene, or be filled with awe At something way above my present pride? In preparation I've had enough To see me through, I'm sure, And to think I thought this school was tough, Since now I know it's hardship's only cure. Mark Hendershot
