Mora Presents “Our Town’’ Each activity and organization in our school has laurels and wreaths to award its outstanding members. The drama depart- ment, however, has never awarded its mem- bers' efforts with anything but a sense of accomplishment. To correct this situation, and perhaps arouse more interest in dra- matics, awards were given this year at the Saturday night performance of Our Town. The cast members themselves voted before the performance for Best Actor and Best Actress. Winning these awards were Russ Elstad and Mary McCarty, who were pre- sented with trophies by Miss Walrath. The presentation of these awards will give hard working Thespians a chance to be honored, and will add an element of excite- ment to dramatic productions. M

Emily Webb and George Gibbs are two typical young people who live in a typical town, with typical parents and fulfill the life cycle in a typical manner. Thorton Wilder has taken these lives and the lives of other Grover's Corners citizens and woven them into three acts-- Daily Life, Love and Marriage, and View from the Hill. As the play began, the Stage Manager, who was portrayed by Steve Hartland, met the audience, and explained the action as well as providing humorous and appropriate comments on people, and life, adding to the universal significance of the play. Emily, played by Mary McCarty, and George, played by Chuck Lindquist, are followed through their childhood, courtship, and marriage, and Emily is followed into death. Paul Boyd, Delores Engler, Russ Elstad, and Anne Claus as the parents, with Patty Larson and Dave Hawkins as the younger brother and sister, help complete the picture of life Wilder has painted for us. Juanita Roelke, Gary Lindquist, Alan Skramstead, Evan Boyd, Charles Fuchs, Richard Fuchs, Kayleen Matthews, and Beth Heim, as local personalities, provide the finishing touches, and inject a bit of humor. The basic elements of life are all there, but presented in a unique manner. Mora High School's production of Our Town” was presented-Nov. 3 and 4 to small but recep- tive audiences. Cast members and director Miss Brown felt that the play was a success.
