Entering from the junior High School in logo. they immediately began to take responsible positions in school activity. As sophomores, the class selected Arthur johnshoy for class president. During the final two years, Maynard Reynolds and Williaiii Shea have served as president and vicefpresident, respectively. Other olhcers of the class during the senior year were Shirley Sands, treasurerg Russel Gibson, secretaryg and a very capable leader, Miss Mary Lou Whitoii. served as class adviser. Seniors who have earned one letter or more in the athletic division, are: Donald Young, Herbert McArthur, Roger Pitsenbarger, Eugene Bolger. Howard Boothroyd, Ernest Carlson, George Hirsch, Williaiii Knapp, Oliver Pederson, Frank Statsvold, Robert Wickluiid, Howard Erickson, Harold Erickson, and Russell Gibson. Outstanding in G. A. A. and girls athletic division are: Opal Bueide, Marcelle Ryen, Mildred Brakke, Marjorie Frolund, Marjorie jammes, Enid Olson and Addrienne Tennyson. The public speaking class held a monopoly on the debate squad this year. Several trips were made and various debates were held at home. Taking an active part in the speech festival here and at several other places, the Moorhead teams found that a majority of the decisions were in their favor. There are George Scanlon and Eugene Bolger who proved themselves adept in def clamation. Going on several trips and gaining much experience. they also took an active part in the Speech Festival. To prove their active participance in club activity, the seniors point to the fact that all officers of Wig and Mask, Sigma Alpha Sigma, S. O. S., Science Club, InterfNos, and all delegates to the Press Convention were seniors. Besides this fact, the seniors as a whole took pride in their able dominance of all general club activities. Many seniors were given roles in the interfsociety plays for the years '37, '38 and '3o. Gloria Geraghty, Ruth Campion and Edna Mae Smith were among those in the cast of Daddy Long Legs. Those represented in Growing Pains were: Dorothy Orvef dahl, Alta Holm, Rudolph Bergland, Karl Holvik, Eugene Bolger, Shirley Houglum, Mary ,lane McCarthy and Betty Reimche. Eugene Bolger and Dorothy Orvedahl were the representatives of the senior class in the production, Wind in the South. The ChofKio staff was ably headed by jean Thortvedt and Eugene Bolger as co' editors: Carsten Skalet, George Hirsch and Alfred Chapman who helped to balance the budget. The chorus, comprised of over one' half of the seniors, is to be complimented on its general progress and on its excellent production, All at Sea. Among those who achieved leading parts were: Arthur john' shoy, Gloria Geraghty, june Marks and Edna Mae Smith. Besides taking a leading part in the operettas, the seniors have helped to add to the success of such groups of the Madrigal Club. NYT GOES THE 1'liU'KlO EDITOR PMARY Llllf WHITON ADVISFR The Spud has recorded another success' ful year, primarily due to the efforts of the seniors. Coeditors of the Spud were Herbert McArthur and Shirley Sands and business manager, Clarence Moland. The band and orchestra have had one of their most successful years, playing several outstanding concerts and making a trip to Winnipeg. Mr. Christianson says a definite loss will be anticipated in the absence of the 'go seniors. Leaving the high school with Com' mencement and Baccalaureate only as a memory, the seniors enter a new life with inspired vigor. The seniors wish to take Q this opportunity to show the faculty their appreciation for the efforts they have made to stimulate them to further education and success. With the motto, Today Decides Tomorrow, an unshaken confidence has been instilled in the seniors of their ability PRESENT SENIOR VLASS IN I'IIiTH GRAIJE to do the same. Abraham Levy, a jew, whose father's heart is set on his marrying a nice little jewish girl. brings home as his bride Rose Mary Murphy whom he met in France. Father Levy is fooled into thinking she is a jewess until Rose' mary's father arrives and reveals the fact that she is Irish. Right there a comic war is started. Abie and Rose, having been married by a Methodist minister, are married again by a rabbi to please Levy, and a third time by a Catholic priest to satisfy Murphy. ' r All at Sea 339' The musical comedy All at Sea , presented by the chorus class, kept the audience in one stormy sea of laughter from beginning to end. Directed by Miss Margaret Newton, the operetta was based on the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. The scene of the production was that of the deck of the H. M. S. Pinafore. The greatest and most noticeable feature of the operetta was the wellfbalanced cast which displayed the individual talents of numerous characters rather than placing emphasis on a small group of performers. The story of the operetta was that of a ship setting out to capture the Pirates of Penzance. In spite of able police protection, however, the contrary happens and the Pirates capture the ship. After many amazing incidents and clever intrepretations, everything works out to a happy ending. The so voice chorus and accompanists all contributed to making All at Sea an outstanding performance. MARGARET NEWTON, DIRECTOR adrigal Club The newly organized Madrigal Club, under the watchful eye of Miss Margaret Newton has already made a name for itself. Costumed in the styles of the sixteenth century the Madrigal Club gave several performances before the Rotary Club and the Fargo Music Club, in addition to a midfwinter concert. The outstanding event of the year was an invitational trip to Underwood, Minnesota to entertain the Underwood FarentfTeachers Association. Flxsr Row: Alta Holm. D1-ruthv Deems. Audrey' Murray. Safety First Great credit is due to Mr. Goodhue and to the boys on the school patrol. It has often been said that boys or men have little patience, but this does not apply to members of this organization. Besides having to listen to the crabbing of the students who always think they have to wait too long at the crossing, these boys have to brave the very variable lvioorhead weather and they seldom complain about it. Only under the careful training of Mr. Goodhue could such success be achieved: therefore we feel that much of the credit is his. x 2 linen Pi. ii Ri lin-r Row Xiilo IX,i.Astr.mtf, ll 'ii -. i' Ni-lst-vu, Allan P.i'r:fs. l,,la Pitteribfrerr. The requirements for memlfership are: The student must have played with merit in a major role of one long play, cr two major roles in a onefact play, or the student must have minor parts in four onefact plays: eihcient work as husiness manager entitles one to memf hership or also creditahle staff work such as carpenter, property man, scenery head, or designing.
