Fall no ivifia: a ia 'faces' Marks of the personalities of 1977-78 included many facial expressions. The characteristic smiles, frowns, winks, or wrinkles of special friends contributed to the memories of many experiences. Some of us made special efforts to be noticed and remembered by either painting our faces bright orange and wearing a pumpkin on our head, making up like clowns at the athletic carnivals drama club booth, or modeling gag eyes to amuse our classmates. Whether consciously or not, most of us who shared these expressions of ourselves were hoping some would realize we were here. 1. Drama students, painted as clowns, sell balloons at Homecoming festivities. 2. Mr. Tony Lawrence, portraying the Great Pumpkin amuses students at a pep session. 3. Mark Gentry shows what drafting class has done to his eyes. 4. Shannon Kirtley lights the torch for the burning MHS. 5. Observing what is happening on the field is place kicker and end jim Stonebreaker. 6. Mr. Graves and Mrs. Roberts aggrivate sponge throwers.

Quarterback joe Copeland rounds the corner trying to escape a tackle from his opponent. 3. Cross Country runners take off at the beginning of a long Sectional race. Few sports fans will forget that we were here in 1977-78. We competed as either athletes or fans and most of the time we won! Some of our marks will remain as group efforts like the pilgrimage of fans and athletes to jasper for the state's AA football semi-finals. Other marks , like the cross country record set by senior Mike Philips, were more individual achievements. Some of these marks will survive in record books and trophy cases. Others will remain as pictures in the gym hall or this book. But all will become experiences to remember and remind us that we were here.
