63256 Wigan! f Mmeoamiug ' PL' What better way to leave a mark than to be honored as the champion pie-eater of the entire school? A continuing tradition saw several students and teachers vying for that distinction. One of the messiest tables in the history of the contest left no doubt that many of us were here. More attractive marks were left by Mary Neitzel, who was crowned Homecoming queen, and Rhonda Opel, who was named princess. Some of us left smaller but still important marks by donating our muscles to the class tug-of-war competition, and some of us just did our best to make sure a teacher was dunked or sponged a little.

1. Mr. Greg Silver isn't too neat, but he did swallow part of a pie very quickly. 2. Seniors show strength and determination in winning the tug-of-war. 3. MHS Homecoming queen Mary Neitzel reigned in the rain when showers drenched halftime ceremonies. 4. DeWayne Cooley holds very still as he gets his face painted by Drama Club mem- bers. 5. Rhonda Opel represents the sophomore class and becomes Homecoming princess. 6. Mr. Bob Ruble 'fenjoys the water inthe African Dip. X 'dx' Qs

Junior win.S500 f fn!! H455 Homecoming floats continued to leave impressive marks even after Homecoming as three classes entered their creations in the Martinsville Fall Foliage Festival Parade. Everyone certainly knew we were there when the juniors, sophomores, and seniors took first, second, and third places respectively winning a total of S900 in prize money. The band also left its mark all over the state, competing in the state marching contest and receiving the distinction of a top ten band. Whether we were a part of the flag and rifle corps, a member of the band, or just an MHS band booster we all believed that we were here and thus a part of the success. 1 2 l
