 WzzfzznA This year, 32 students from 19 different coun- tries spent their first weekend together in Mooresville. They were sponsored by the A.F.S. Club and community chapter. The students lived with A.F.S. Club members and attended classes at school with them. Different cultures, costumes, and abilities were displayed by these students at a talent show given to the M.H.S. studen body. Picnics at the lake and parties completed the weekend. All the A.F.S. students seemed to have a good time. Relaxing at Lake Norman. The AFS group. 81

Tord Eide of Norway was our 1978-79 for- eign exchange student. He was living here with Mr. and Mrs. Wade Carrigan and work- ing at Carrigan farms. Their son, Tommy, spent his senior year living in Australia. Some of Tord's M.H.S. classes included Advanced Biology, P.E., English. U.S. His- tory. and Sociology. He was an active mem- ber of the wrestling team and in the camera and outing clubs. Tord also carried the American flag with the Mooresville Blue Devil Band.. 80

c rf-±±£,mlj[Lz'L This year we had some very interesting assem- blies. One of the highlights was A.F.S. week when 32 people from several different countries appeared and showed their talents. Another pro- gram introduced Mr. Edwards to the spirit ladder with the end result being a pie in the face. The annual Super Guy Award has always been a favorite among students. Chuck Crouch was named Super Guy 1978-1979. Last spring, the F.E.A. sponsored a talent show. Many students participated in the program. It was a big success. The Beta Club also had their annual induction and Thanksgiving service. Mr. Edwards at the top of the spirit ladder. 82
