Carl F . Hensinger Principal of High School M.A., Lehigh University TO THE SENIORS HYouth in a Democracyi, is indeed a very timely theme for this 1958 edition of the N utshell. In your classes and school organizations you have experienced the satisfaction of work- ing with your fellow students and teachers in groups to achieve certain goals: developing skills, learning to think intelligently, serving your school and community, learning to use leisure .wisely, learning to safeguard your health, etc. This experience of working as a member of a gioup is excellent training for life in a democracy. In your classes and the many activities of the school you have also had the opportunity to develop your individual capacities as you have seen fit. You have enjoyed the freedom to select your program of studies to prepare for a career or a college of your own choosing. Your individual achievement is very important in democracy. Yours has been a broad education conceived in freedom and dedicated to the idea that the development of the individual is the real goal of education. This is the real meaning of youth in a democracy. May you bring credit to yourselves, to your community, and to your school as you seek to achieve success and happiness in this great democracy. Good luck! g$ y D g . M argaret M . Binker Assistant to the High School Principal and Guidance M.S., Temple University
