TGRY OF Much was expected of the tnirty one little bows and virls who started their ele mcntarvschoolin inder Mrs Maybelle B aklex o Sept 4 1939 They made t throu n tne 11st tear w iti ily nv colors Their basketball ictix ities were put back by llrs Blanche Dorribauuh when h disciplined some of the boys for us in the wastebaskets for voals Those little boys with the bald heads are Jist thc third grade students who lost their hair when Mrs Florence White lift ec' them fromtheir desks bx theirhair for xhisperinv The cloak room w as declared off limits by Xlrs Ori Cirson their fourth grade instructor when it was discox ered too many extracurricular actix ities were go ing on there Fractions were the scour: e of the fifth grade as 'Xliss Loretta Stump did ner best to get proper ind improper fractions throuoh our thick heads Many of our stu dents had Joined 4 H and were receiving some ofthe many honors to fall to mem oers of our class Eraser throwing sharpened the aim of the sixthgrade boys untilthey were caught in tne act by Mrs Rose Simmons their su-.th grade teacher who stood them in a line down the hall The honor and dionity of the sex enth grade received a sex ere Jolt when Mrs Audrey Smith caught several of the girls making an exit through the sex enth rade windows What a letdown' From thc most hon ored and difrnified class in the fvradebuildin to the lowest form of animal lite in the highschoolbuilding We took itall in stride except for some under the table actixitx in Mr Nelson Peach s science class Mr A A Tuck was our sponsor that year Students who have not remained with us are Barbara Cox Jesse Croisant Charles Davis Clarence Dax is Joy Davis Billie Joe Fussel Marvin Grayson Irene Howell Billy K Inghram Wilbur Ramey Bobby Stipp Adrian Sullivian Lena Tshwo Orval Ramey Naomi Bishop Gene B rittain Harry Finchum Bethel Tucker Annette Knittel Lawren e Grubb Foster Mac Queen Wanda Jean Hoover Marlow Horn Laurence Trowbridve John Jeffrie Joan Sacelid Martha Lee Sheldon Iola Kinney Joy Knittel Rita Kralicek Bobby Ladd Marcella McCormick, Lowell McCormick, Johnnie Russel, JoNellP1ckel, Helen Holl ingsworth, Billy Nelson, Carol Hepner, and Donna Stewart, Additions were Vic toria Elwood, Eugene Green, Clarence Lehr Virginia Luellen Gary Tuck Betty Meyer Eelmer Xliller Louise Ruttman Lora Mae Clark VN alter Jackson Billy VN ilson and Donna Johnson Ah' High School at last b t oh that initiation Nlr Jo inson was our freshman sponsor and what a class Additions this year were Theo Starr Lester Haskins Keitn Whitcornb Francis H1nk'e Mary Louise Myers Gladys Reed Ramona Stout Marcella Xlahan Isabelle W irz Helen Dodve Ray Dean Phillips and Rena Ridenour Aloebra I and English Ildid their best to keepthe sophomore class out of trouble but nothing seemed able tobreak the spirit of our class Mrs CoreneStanley wasour sopnomore sponsor Additions this year were Ilene Widener Kenneth Holland Raxona Johnson Joy Rae Hopper and James Costello W e lost Marcella Mahan r1s Tom Fields Jim Fields Ralph Bran kel Keith Whitcomb Lester Haskins and Bob Highiill Mrs Rose Simmons was our Junior sponsor and a xery ood one but Money Money Money was our main problem durlng this year The Junior play Too Many Husbands did much to solve this problem until we spent it all on our Junior Senior Banquet which was a success Football was a new sport in our school and one in which the Junior boys took a great interest Home Ed for boys was a new course offe red and was taken en thasiastically by many of the boys Walter Jackson and Tony Kamri erlocher had the sad experience of beinv two of the three deleoates to Kansas CityF H A Cont en tion Three boys and two thousand girls' Joan Robinson and Earl Scaddenwere new students this year Rena Ridenour Theo Starr Buford Otey Joan Robinson and Earl Scadden all left us this year We finally reoained all of our lost dwnity though little of our honor when we started our senior year Money avain was our problem The yearbook and Senior play did much to refill the treasury The Junior Senior Banquet was western style and was enjoyed by the seniors very much We also had a lot of fun putting on our senior play The Campbells Are Comino Students from our class have received many honors in sports music F F A F I-I A scho lastic contests and other activities that they may have entered, Mrs, Evelyn Will iams has been our sponsor through this our busiest year.
