They take water samples, soil samples, and survey everything in the river. We travel to eight differ- ent rivers. Following is an interview with Ms. Mary Clay, head of the Math depart- ment. Q. How long have you been the head of the Math department? A. About 15 years. Q. Do you feel that the department fulfills its responsibilities to the students? A. Yes. l feel that we offer a course to meet the need of every student if they were just willing to get in there and work. V 206 BENTHOS SAMPLES are taken by Project Research students David Lessman and David Dixson. These samples are taken to determine what kinds of bugs live on the bottom of the river. Mu Alpha Theta, also known as Math Club, sponsored a Ping-Pong tournament this past year. Officers of Math Club were Jimmy Scott, president, Barry Young, vice-president, Tony Jackson, secre- taryg and Debbie Smith, representa- tive. Their sponsor was Ms. Barbara Blake. Science Club sponsored an an- nual assembly, All About Caves, to raise money for a scholarship to do- nate to one outstanding student in the Moore High School science classes. Executive officers for the club were Richard Vestal, Linda Reynolds, Susan Blackburn, Kathy Scott, and Larry Lessmann. Sponsors were Mr. Barnett and Mr. Jeff Short. A newly organized club, JETS, was sponsored this year by Mr. Gene Plumley. Officers were Barry Young, president, Phillip Apple, vice- president, Jayne Boyce, secretary, and Doug Berryhill, treasurer.
