ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE You are maturing into womanhood and manhood in one of the most excit- ing and, at the same time, frightening periods in history. It is an exciting period due to a veritable explosion of knowledge and invention. It is a fright- ening era because man has created instruments of destruction that can literally devastate humanity. Our task, then, as American citizens is to so improve ourselves, our drives, our interests, our values, so that the result will be the using of the marvelous discoveries of science, technology, social science, mathematics, and psychol- ogy to create a brave new world in which strife, discord, and destruction will succumb to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
