asm D.E.C.A. is a program which gives students an opportunity to be involved in the business world while plonning tor a successful future The students have participated in a Fall. Western Regional, and State DECA Conference They have also been involved in a program entitled Toastmosters This program improves the students ' speaking skills which will help them in the future. The students have been involved in many community and social activities as well, A few of these are raising food and money for St. Mary ' s food bank and a needy family over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Students donate time to the Tumbleweed PTA to help build a haunted house. Stu- dents are selected for the class on the basis of their occupational career goals. National Honor Societyts an honorary club whose nnembership is restricted to those students who demonstrate continued excellence in the areas of scholarship, leader- ship, service, and character. NHS brings together students fronn all areas of the student body, who have given both curricularly and extracurricularly to the school. During the year NHS serves the school and students by working at school functions and tutoring willing students. HERO H.E.R.O. — Home Economics Related Occupations is for seniors with vocational interests in food service, child care, special education, medicine, dentistry, clothing, and fashion. H.E.R.O. students get job experience while in class and on the job. Students learn many job related skills, such as employer employee relationships, communication, professional dress, behavior, and much much more. H.E.R.O. students are active in the community as well as in class and on the job.
