Page Eighteen FOOTBALL Football practice started the first week of September with Mr. Gendich as coach and Mr. Hanley as assistant coach. Enough boys came out to make two teams with plenty of subs for each side. Soon after practice got under way, the sale of milk and season tickets was started to buy the necessary equipment for the team. Their persistent practice, under the leadership of Iim Lauderbaugh as honorary captain, produced the best team our school has had so far. However, chances for next year's team are still better because only two of the regulars graduated, leaving most of the players for next year's team. Katherine Bartley was chosen head cheerleader: Emily Bodine, Dorothy Wilkinson, Dorothy Richards, Marjorie Marnhout, Fred McCutcheon, and Albert McKallip served as assistants. These cheerleaders were present at all football and basketball games to cheer and support the team. Under the direction of Miss Tomlinson, cheerleading sponsor, a cheer- leading club was formed. These people took turns cheering at basketball games and hope to be full-fledged cheerleaders before long. The regular cheerleaders and girls from the club raised the spirit of the school with their pep meetings in assembly and at noon.
