Moody FFA Facilities Rank Second to None! feature article by Clark Bolt appeared in the November issue of TEXAS FUTURE FARMER This year the activities of the local FFA are under the direction of Horace D Stearman who came to our school at mid term of the past school year Mr Stearman received his B S and M Ed in Agricultural Education from Texas A8cM College This year the organization of an Advisory Council has strengthened the program being developed by the vocational agri culture department Under the direction of Carl Wright It Chairman the council offers assistance and guidance in planning the activities ofthe department The advisory council has been helpful in initiating plans for the Economy Beef Feeding demonstration being carried out by the FFA Chapter Moody FFA members took their share of the ribbons and prizes in the fall live- stock shows Chapter members won over S400 in premiums at the Heart of Texas Fair in Waco. FOR THE BEARCATS of Moody l-Ilgh the 1954 football season was a very successful one The Bearcats ended ln a tie for third place ln District 24 B Because of their fine show ing through the overall season four boys were voted to the All District team Led by flrst team selection Jerry Brentham second team Nelson Gabbert Bob Sims and Johnny Newman FOOTBALL CO CAPTAINS Nelson Gabbert and Johnny Newman were elected co captains of the 1954 Bearcat te am by the voting of the team members Because of their fine leadership and the mist placed in them by thelr fellow team mates these two boys were chosen To be captains of the Bearcats meant a lot to these two boys Gabbert and New man are Seniors and have been very active in school affatrs They are on the ANNUAL STAFF and have participated in all sports in their four years of high school.
