DR. WILLIAM CULBERTSON President Really, why has God left us here on earth? So that we shall grow more like the Lord Iesus in the trials of life? But He could accomplish that at the moment of trans- lation-He will! ls it so that we may have the joy of Christian fellowship? But we shall have that forever-and perfectly later on! Is it so that We may build buildings for Him? But, as good as it is to so honor God, these structures shall pass away! Well, why are we here? I know of only two absolutely final reasons. One is that we may trust God. How our heavenly Father likes to be believed. He wants men to trust His Son. He wants Christians to trust His Word. Some day faith will give place to sightg now we may trust Him. The second reason is that we may use this time to win others to Him. Witness the commissions of the Lord Iesus, the ministry of the apostles, and the activity of the early Church. Nor are these words local in application? they are universal. It is 'call nationsf' all the worldf' every creature, the uttermost part of the earth. Mis- sions thereby are part of the very blood stream of the Church. It is a matter of great thanksgiving to God by those of us associated with Moody that missions has so important a place in the life of the Institute. It is our purpose that no student shall graduate from this school without facing the possibility that it is God's will for hi1n to be a missionary. It is further our purpose that all-whether they go or not-may have a heart touched by the- Holy Spirit to pray, to support, to 'use their influence for the getting of the gospel to the ends of the world-that is the reason for which we are here!
