He is idcntihed by his silver-gray thatch of hair, but students also know him for his delight in encouraging and inspiring them to greater achievement in music. Those he doesn't get as music scholars, he contacts in General Chorus. Professor Schuler's interest in helping students in any way he can has endeared him to M,l the hearts of all. The twinkle in his eyes betrays a love for teasing and a real enjoyment of life. An avid tennis fan, the summer noon hours find him on the tennis court as regularly as the sun shines. Though he is almost an integral part of Insti- tute life, he also belongs to the world through his music, both secular and sacred. A Christian gen- tleman, Mr. Schuler is a rare testimony to the youthfulness that the Christian life can impart to one who lets the joy of the Lord reign in his heart. It was one of his last appearances at the chapel service, before he went to be with the Lord, june 14, 1947. Dr. Houghton's very appearance commanded TCSIJCCI and in- spired conlidence. There was dignity and quiet reserve in his walk among men. There was humility and simplicity in his walk with God. This was the man who felt the job of leadership at Moody Bible Institute too great a task for him and turned it over to the One who called him to that work. MBI will long benefit from the service rendered by Dr. Houghton, because his dependence rested in the Lord whom he loved and served. He lived the music that he left to us: In all my days be glorified, Lord Jesus, In all my ways guide me with Thine own eyeg just when and as Thou wilt, use me, Lord Jesus, And then for me 'tis Christ, to live or diel' Dr. Will H. Jan. 28, 1947, has continued throughout the four terms of organization. On the basis of the reality that I-Iitherto hath the Lord helped us, we plunged into the increasing respon- sibilities of the second term. Experience taught us that the secret of success for our class lay in unity, love, and depend- ance upon the Lord to do in and through us what we were unable to do. Dormitory prayer grou ps, class devotionals, and social Treasurer Bethel Straub . Recording Secretary Edith E. Organized as a representative gov- erning body, the Women's Student Coun- cil's purpose is the deepening of the spir- itual, developing the physical and enrich- ing the social life of the women students. Its most important function is to discuss problems pertinent to student welfare. It is the prayer of each council member that the Council as a whole may continue to be an example of the believer in word, in conversation, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. The Men's Student Council held its initial meeting December 18, 1947, but it wasn't until the first day of the Winter term that the election of oflicers was held, and the group formulated its plans for work. This group, meeting weekly, is composed of students elected by the men, on a floor and building basis. It considers such matters as may benefit student life, that the men or others may bring to its attention. The aim of the Men's Student Council is, in the light of Col, 3:17, to afford an avenue for expressing the general senti- ments of student groups or individuals and of the faculty and departments to the betterment of the spiritual and social life ofthe student body. With a new high in membership and something new added in programs, Chris- tian Education Club can look back with pardonable pride on a profitable year. Membership during the year leaped to an all time high of approximately 700 mem- bers. The most outstanding program of the year was the Christian Education Club Fair. Taking over all of second floor Crowell Hall,. the Fair displayed materials and aids for those who are going out to work among children and young people. Another of the most talked-about pro- grams was the November meeting at which Mrs. Stella Daleburn spoke on teaching the Bible to Nursery and Be- ginner children. To meet this desire on the part of the students to have their say on matters of interest to themselves, Forensic Club was formed. During the past year Forensic Club sponsored two discussions on social life at Moody Bible Institute seeking to aid tl1e students in establishing A More Abundant Social Life. At its inception, Forensic Club, under the advisorship of Dr. Cable, met only for discussion and debate but during the past year has begun the practice of coming together for the additional purpose of fellowship and occasionally a bite to eat. tb ii X I a Atherton, Brown, Shzzw, Sivanson, Mead, Fisiel, Almond. Believing that the command of Christ to go into all the world includes men and women serving in our armed forces, ex-servicemen and women of the student body have banded together in The Chris- tian Veterans' Fellowship. Members of this group have regularly visited the railway and bus stations of Chicago each Sunday morning contacting servicemen for Christ and inviting them to the two Christian Servicemen's centers of the city. Each Sunday afternoon the Veterans' Fellowship has also worked in co-operation with the Servicemen's center of the Pacific Garden Mission, holding a gospel meeting for servicemen and veter- ans. The Fellowship has conducted the Sunday morning worship service at the Victory center for servicemen once a month during the past year. Marie and twelve miles southwest of Sault Point on Lake Superior, we have over three thousand acres of wild wood land-evergreens, birch, maple, beech and other hardwoods- completely surrounding beautiful PIA'IT LAKE with its more than four miles of shore line. This secluded spot is the home of the BLESSED HOPE BIBLE CONFERENCE. Splendid Bible Conference programs are planned, with separate morning programs for youth groups. Recreational facilities include provision for the various sports, boating, bath- ing. hiking, fishing, etc. Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, the Soo locks and other points of interest are within easy driving distance. For hunters, membership in the Association provides a Christian center during the bird, duck, bear and deer hunting seasons.- The purchase and development of this property is being accomplished through the leasing of lake front and other lots for a fifty year term. Leases are restricted to born again Christians. For information write Blessed Hope Bible Conference Association' Oakland and Saginaw Streets, Pontiac 15, Michigan.
