3} DUCATED at Mount Hermon School, Massachusetts, and entering Princeton Theological Seminary with thoughts of the pastorate where he might have preached the Gospel to hundreds, in the providence of God he soon withdrew from Princeton and was appointed by Mr. Moody to become the active head of the Bible Institute Colportage Association, through which agency he has preached the Gospel to millions. Since June, 1897, Mr. Norton’s genius has been entwined with the development and marvelous accomplishments of the Col- portage Association; and since he has been so intimately associated with the Moody Bible Institute through the Bible Institute Col- portage Association and from 1941 to the present has been a mem- ber of the Board of Trustees, the ARCH staff takes great pleasure in dedicating to him the 1946 issue. We would take account of the following outstanding qualities: I. Clearness of vision. Mr. Norton quickly caught Mr. Moody’s vision of preach- ing the Gospel to the multitudes by means of the printed page. Included in this vision are the following: 1. The desire to secure the salvation of lost souls who otherwise would not be reached; 2. To establish young Christians in the faith and cause them to be fruitful in their lives; 3. Lo stimulate older Christians to a life of prayer and service; 4. To combat error and all kinds of evil, and to deliver those who are being ensnared thereby; 5. To counteract the influence of pernicious books and magazines which flood the country. II. Indomitable Purpose. Despite changes which have come into the world in the last half century, one invincible purpose has dominated the life of this servant of the Lord. III. Indefatigable energy. Through many years, early in the morning, continually through the day, and late at night, he has gone about his work, reading manuscripts, passing on suitable books for distribution, and supervising their publication. His abiding faith in God has given him the poise to work on with patience. We believe that when the Lord Jesus Christ returns, Mr. Norton will hear the welcome words of approbation, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant ... enter thou into the joy of thy lord?
