Crowell during this educational year brought the Institute the greatest loss since the death of Dr. James M. Gray, ten years ago. While Mr. Crowell was not so well known to the student body as other administrative officers, yet his interest in the students was just as deep, for his life was intimately identified with the school for forty years and more. Luther has an interesting translation of a familtar phrase. The Authorized Version says, “Let your modera- “tion be known to all men.” Luther says, “your yieldedness.” Let it be evident to all men that your life is actually and entirely yielded to Christ. This can be said of Mr. Crowell. His yieldedness was known to all who knew him. Mr. Crowell's life was rich and full. In the way he carried his nearly ninety years he gave evidence of the fact that age is not a matter of years, but of spirit. Some men are older at thirty-nine than he was at eighty-nine. Old men look back and reminisce. He looked ahead, and ventured. Not many weeks before his passing the Executive Committee discussed the possibility of taking up a new type of work. Someone remarked that if this were done we would be pioneers in the field. Mr. Crowell at once responded, ° ‘It is thrilling to pioneer. Here was a man nearly ninety years of age, still thinking 1 in terms of adventuring for Christ! . A proper way to memorialize Henry P. Crowell would be for each one of us left in this earthly scene a little longer to determine by. the grace of God that our lives shall 1 In larger measure give evidence of yieldedness to Christ and of the desire to adventure for Christ. (Named in memory of Mr. Crowell)

This volume is a book of friendship, of Christian friend- ship. Here are to be seen names and faces of individuals who have by faith been brought into relationship to God and to each other. On the basis of this relationship, there has been during these two or three years of school life a growing, and we are convinced, an enduring fellowship. On behalf of the official family, we greet each one of our students, who in this educational year has become a graduate. In a world ablaze with hatred, you graduates, having been brought ‘to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,” are sent forth to manifest Christian fellowship to the degree that the unbelieving must say, “Behold, how they love one another!” Wik .
