You see, I was an Evening School student before I enrolled in Day School, and met many of them at that time. These young people who crowd our halls and classrooms each Tuesday and Friday evening live and work in or about the city, employed in secular work throughout the day, and receive their Christian training at night. They carry Synthesis and Doctrine, as well as the other General Course classes, just as we do, but it takes them twice as long to get their diploma. They usually carry one practical Christian work assign- ment a week, and many of them take private lessons in piano, organ, and voice, at the Institute. Most of their leisure hours are taken up with studies, but busy people are happy people, so they don't seem to Last year approximately sixteen hundred students were enrolled in the Evening School, and every term the Day School students welcome into their gradu- ating class one or more fellow classmates who have successfully completed their training in Evening School. These young people deserve a hearty cheer, for the grade isn't easy to make, and the load isn't easy to take, but the end justifies the means. - 1 . Bali ,,,,, ee xiii'-:filers 55' 'e2m:.53g.f 5?ef2. Mr. Harrison sent me out to teach a class in a colored mission Sunday School. I didn't think I'd ever be able to teach my class of nine year old boys anything, but I've been able to bring every one of them to the Lord. Boys and girls all over the city have been reached by the thousands through the efforts of the students on their practical Christian work assignments. Last year 80,568 souls were contacted and IO,4l 2 made a profession ofsaving faith in the Lord jesus. Open air meetings, Sunday School classes, Child Evangelism classes, student pastorates, jail work, hospital and house many visitation-these are just a few of the many, ways in which we are able to give out what we learn in the classroom. The Practical Christian Work OH'ice is in charge of James F. Harrison and Mrs. Ralph Allison. Practical Christian work is a vital part of the Instltute's curriculum, and, while it is required of us, with the aim of soul- winning ever before us, it proves to be the means of untold blessing in our lives.
