CLASS PROPHECY Double-double toil and trouble, Fire burn and Caldron bubble. Suddenly as a cloud covers the moon and darkness envelops the earth, in a remote-mysterious clearing we see the three Shakespearean witches busily stirring their tempting brew. We draw near the scene and can faintly hear the eerie chant. Hovering over their brewing pot, they add the choice ingredients: scale of dragon, tooth of wolf, nose of Turk, and Tartar ' s lips. Pondering over their caldron, the first creature croaks, Aha, it ' s beginning to appear--the future of the Seniors of ' 63 is being revealed to us. I see RAYMOND ALIFF as the president of the Kroger-Ray Supermarkets issuing orders to all the bag boys since NANCY DOOLEY bought out the Kroger Co. BETTY BOOTHE is returning home to Poochie after a successful run on Broadway with her impersonations of the famous Betty Boop. DAVID CUSTER is head of the tri-county bus shop overhauling buses when he isn ' t going fishing and telling about the one that got away. JOYCE CARTER and husband Marvin, having finally finished their new ranch-style home overlooking Montvale, are busy chasing their five kids. RICHARD GILES has returned to Montvale from Tennessee Temple and a tour of the Holy Land to fill the pastorate at Montvale Baptist. Stop! Stop! , growls the second hag. It ' s my turn! Zounds, DORIS MCCLURE, or shall I say Mrs. C. R. Orr, is living a hectic life as an actress at the Schubert Theatre in Chicago and teaching her four little Orrs how to row a boat on Lake Shore. STEVE COX is now proprietor of Frederic ' s Flowers, selling roses to his classmates at five cents a dozen. CECIL CONNOR is now trying to invent a method so grape popcicles will have four sticks instead of two and still sell them fora nickel. MARY MOORMAN is the State Home Demonstration Agent at VPI and has introduced two new recipes-- Burnt Lemon Snow Drops and Grilled Ice Cream Sandwiches. JOHN CARROLL, hav¬ ing received his Masters ' in Engineering from VPI, is on a nation-wide tour for Kenney ' s Biff-Burger. BRENDA DIVERS is teaching Chemistry in an up-to-date laboratory. (Oops! Bang!--an experiment j us t blew up.) ELLA SUE COFFMAN is now playing the piano for Mitch Miller and the gang; she also has the job of trimming Mitch ' s beard. JAMES GRAY, after his college years, is chief cook and bottle washer at the 5th Wheel. His salary is more than that of his former profs. VICKI REED, now living in Florida, makes frequent trips to Hollywood to direct her television series-- How to Be a Successful Blonde with¬ out Really Trying. Begone! I ' ll have my say, now hisses old Hecate. ELEANOR DOOLEY is busy teaching her children how to drive the family car--in the hay field (Wayne saw to that!). PAULINE ORANGE, inspired by her title of Hollywood-Bound, is scrubbing floors at the Walt Disney Studios in Hollywood. STEPHEN LUCK, one of the richest male graduates, is working on his new project--landscaping all of Porter ' s mountain for Luck ' s Ski Lodge. FAYE KING is keeping in prac- ticehitting the bucket, since shewas voted Best Athlete, while she milks the three hundred cows at Grant ' s Plantation. BILL JONES is putting his four years of high school agriculture to use at Jones ' Glue Factory. JEAN MORGAN, between trips to London and Paris, is fashion consultant for Christian Dior. TOMMY OBENCHAIN, a successful businessman, is living a luxurious life. He takes time off from his O ' bean Pea¬ nut Butter Industry to teach his little Panthers the tricks of dunking nine of ten lay up shots. DORIS HAM- ILTONhas aprominent job with a local television station. She replaced Laurie Gregory as hostess on Pan¬ orama. WAYNE OVERSTREET, Rear Admiral of the 7th Fleet, is now on maneuvers on Goose Creek. EILENE SHEPHERD is the executive secretary at the now famous Luck ' s Service Station (when she isn ' t pumping gas.) Neither witch is happy when only one is delving into the pot of secrets, so all three pour in the magic potion. Bubble, bubble--, they gloat. ROGER LEFTWICH and SHIRLEY DOOLEY are happily settled down to married life and are in the used car business specializing in Chevys, Renaults, and Lil Furies. Having found her job on the annual so fascinating, CHARLOTTE GROSS is feature editor of MAD MAGAZINE. FRANCIS RIELEY is operating a home for wayward boys, teaching them tricks he perfected when he was in school. LINDA SHEPHERD now caters to the upper crust as hostess in her husband ' s business establishment—Danny ' s Exclusive Barber Shop. RICHARD RUFF, voted as most in need of driver instruction, is head of the traffic bureau of the great metropolis, Penicks. We see CAROL LAMbusy at work at her booming business in the new Montvale Industrial Park. She is producing in masses--Lam ' s Sweaters. MARY TYLER has teamed up with Elsie in the executive secretarial firm which serves such celebs as their old associate--John Cassell. JUDY SMITH is now operating Smitty ' s Beauty Salon and is giving lessons in teasing poodles. JUDY LEFTWICH isworking in New York as private secretary to Bobby Kennedy (she might get to be a millionaire yet). DE- LORES DOOLEY WEST is living in Georgia keeping house and chasing: kids! Hecate now, with upraised fist, is muttering at the moon and suddenly the clouds obscure the setting. Quickly snatching the pot and spitting angrily into the embers, the three weird sisters vanish into the dark¬ ness and the magic works no more. Montvale High School June 6, 1963 Steve Cox Charlotte Gross
