Teachers Montrose Area has had many fine teachers. The following pictures do not attempt to distinguish any certain one. For every individual picture listed, there is another one that should be included. This portion of the Mr. Robert Synder 1946- Mr. Richard Ayres Math 1957-71 Math Mrs. Ruth James 1937-63 Latin Pictures were not available for Miss Anna Carney who taught Junior High from 1923-58 and Mr. Howard Sipe who taught science from 1925-50. The following are elementary teachers: Miss Annie Brewster 1920-40, Mrs. Florence Dora 1931-68, Miss Dorothy Hardy 1930-68, Miss Helen lngham 1934-70, Mr. Tracey Jenner 1923-30, 1935-70, and Miss Marguerite Lewis 1922-66. historical section was written for the alumni and the intention of stirring a memory for enjoyment. If memories of these teachers and others are recalled, a hopeful goal will have been reached. Sports Basketball was started in 1920 for girls and boys. Each team has captured many championships and titles. From 1931 to 1934, the boy's team had a record of 54 wins and 7 losses. Many people can still remember when the player had to climb a ladder to retrieve the basketball from the basket . 1935 Girls Basketball Team 1964 Montrose State Basketball Champs-Class B 1921 Girls and Boys Basketball Teams Football has been a prominent sport since the turn of the century. lt was discontinued at Montrose in 1931.
