ADMINISTRATION Dr. Silas M. Vaughn (left) is the presi- dent of Montreat-Anderson College. His main duties are those of implementing the policies adopted by the Board of Trustees, and of administering the af- fairs of the college. Half of his time is spent in Montreat, while the other half is spent off-campus raising funds for the college. For years Dr. Vaughn has served Mon- treat-Anderson well. This is almost twice as long as Time magazine indicates most college presidents persevere in their po- sitions! Dr. E. Lee Secrest (bottom left) has served as Dean of Academic Affairs for two years. He is mainly concerned with planning the academic curricula and with faculty development. Says Dr. Secrest, Montreat-Anderson is an outstanding institution, and I'll do my best to make it even better.” Dr. C. Larry Wilson (bottom right) has been Dean” to Montreat students for 20 years. Dean Wilson's duties include su- pervising all student activities, coordi- ating resident life, and discipling students. Dean Wilson says he is very excited about the new student center. He feels it will be a great asset to the college in the oming years. Faculty Staff 17

Administration Dr. Calvin C. Thielman (right) is known as Calvin” to everyone, from the president of the college to the 3-year-old faculty child. He has served as chaplain of Montreat-Anderson for about two decades. Clavin would say his job is to take each student he encounters a step or two toward Christ, in whatever way he can. This may be in directly sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or helping a student prepare to lead a hall Bible study. Walter Hall (below) plays an important, but uncelebrated, role in the life of Montreat-An- derson College. As the business manager he supervises billing, oversees the repairs in the dorms, and generally keeps the college in the red. Williard Sessler, (lower right) is another un- sung hero of Montreat-Anderson College. His official title is Director of Development- Church Relations. Mr. Sessler keeps the col- lege ideals in mind — and in progress. His job is to keep the college well-endowed financially and with the prayers of support people. 18 Faculty Staff
