We played Piedmount Bible College at Rockmount Field during the afternoon, then the dance was later in the evening. Donna Ruth Osborne was in charge of the plans for the dance. She received help from the Student Activities Committee. It was a day we will always remember. | Halloween Party '79. Every year MAC students have a chance to dress up for Halloween and attend a party hosted by McGregor Dorm. Prizes of cakes, baked by various students, were given away for the best and most original costumes, for individuals and couples both. This year the ghost wedding couple won for best all around. Judging was done by Mary Horner, assistant resident of MA-HALL. I !' I 51 Dances at MAC. Montreat-Anderson holds many types of dances for the students during the weekends. Square Dancing is a favorite, especially when the Stoney Creek Boys come and play for us. Our own Dean Larry Wilson does the calling for the dances. Other types of dances are street dances and discos. We have both formal and informal discos. Our formal dances are in October for Homecoming and in April for the Spring Dance. All students are encouraged to attend, with or without dates, to enjoy MAC'S super dances. 52 MAC has three different talent shows throughout the year. One is the Sophomores entertain Freshman, another is Sophomores and Freshman entertain prospective students and the last one is when Freshman entertains Sophomores. On these talent-filled nights Mac introduces great talents such as singing, skits, different instruments played, also there is always two very talented emcees. I' S3 Fall Festival — MAC held its first fall festival this year in the Howerton parking lot. Each dorm was represented with different booths containing different activities. Various rewards were given out for baking contests, crafts, and prizes for the different games provided. The festival was arranged by the Student Activities and the Student Government. Special funds were provided through this event to help various clubs throughout the campus. To express the joy of Christmas each dorm is busy decorating their lobbies and floors for the annual Christmas judging. The judging is done by local staff and friends and cash prizes are awarded for the best dorm lobby and the best floor in each dorm. It is an exciting way to get ready for the Christmas season and to enjoy the Spirit of Christmas together. ss Here at Montreat- Anderson, we are blessed with a talented Drama Club as we observed when they performed the play titled The Twelve Angry Jurors. The club rehearses and performs for the student body and the Montreat community throughout the school year. They are under the direction of Miss Franc Tamboli, new to the faculty this year. 56 Auto Rally this year. The Recreation Class worked hard in preparing this activity. They gathered people to participate, planned the route to be followed and furnished the prizes to be awarded. Even though the turnout was small it proved to be fun and the participants enjoyed themselves. if 57 Montreat supplies the student with many places to go to be alone with the Lord and thank him for everything he has given to us. News of the death of the two young men stunned the college community. A memorial service was held in Gaither Chapel at 10 a.m. on October 31, with Dr. Calvin Thielman officiat- ing. Bruce had been on the M-AC campus for 10 years as a student, baseball trainer and cook. Dean Larry Wilson describe him as a giver, a quiet person who had done far more for the college and it's students than most realize. He was a member of Montreat Presbyterian Church. His funeral was held in Canton, NC on No- vember 1. Steve, although not a long-time resident of Montreat, had quickly won his way into the hearts of those who knew him. A hard worker and an outgoing and sincere person, he was popular with students and others. Ran- dy Bowyer, former admissions counselor at M-AC and close friend of Steve, told students at the service that Steve had recently had a very deep experience with the Lord Jesus Christ. His funeral service was held in his hometown, Quincy, Massachusetts, on November 2. 102 103 BLACK MOUNTAIN AVE. Behind The Depot NOfflWG BUT NATURAL Serendipity Square 640 Mernmon Ave Asheville.
