 Follow the Lord's rules for doing His work, just as an athlete either follows the rules or is disqualified and wins no prize. 11 Timothy 2:5 I worked Hard, Lord, followed the rules, sweated buckets, ran with an aching hamstring, played with a sprained finger and practiced, practiced, practiced!! And still no prize—What did I do it for anyway? Certainly there is no glory in defeat—or-- am I measuring success by win-loss records, gilded trophies, and the praises of men? When your Son hung on the cross, it looked as if He had Lost. But He won a far greater prize--He gave us forgiveness and eternal life ! Maybe this year can be measured by intangible sucesses: --the friendship of the others on the team —feeling good about doing something right once in time —representing a small college tucked back in the mountains where people really Love each other --feeling the exhuberance of making my body work to its Limits and then going beyond them, --and then -1 got to know you better, Lord.
