The Merrimacs won second place by competing in the Hootenanny '67, which was sponsored by Mitchell College in Statesville, N. C. on May 5th. They have competed against folk groups from Appalachian State Teachers College, Mitchell College and Catawba Col- lege, University of North Carolina. The numbers included Rocky Road , Freedom Starr , and others. The Merrimacs have grown into a very prom- ising organization this year and we hope that they will have an even more successful year next year.
