SENIORS 1956 September 9. 1952, we were a spirited bunch en- tering Montreat College with “pomp and circum- stance.” No lesson would be too hard and no moun- tain too high for us. We were ready to set the world on lire. Miss Smith became our advisor and we struck our first match with our talent show which was a real success—we thought. By our Sophomore year, we had begun to simmer down a little. A year of homesickness intermingled with study and good times had made us begin to realize that perhaps we were not the class predes- tined to revolutionize the world after all. With the help of Miss Buchanan and “Bee Jay” Chaplin, our advisors, we gave our Christmas play, “The Bird’s Christmas Carol.” And then, Jolly Juniors! We really were, but by that time our increasing responsibilities and knowl- edge had tempered our spirit even more. We worked hard, but cheerfully, raising money for our Junior- Senior banquet. We remember such things as “grilled cheese sandwiches,” “fashion show,” “Bluebeard,” and of course “Monte Vista,” “G o o f u $,” and Southern Gardens.” Now we are Seniors, pondering our five grains of corn and really considering where we are going, how we arc going to get there and how far we have gotten. We appreciate the genuine friendship, guidance and understanding of our faculty and classmates. With them, our four years have been packed with fun, excitement, challenges, tears, and happiness in enriched living. And as we leave, we thank them sincerely for the Strength, Beauty and Truth they have shared with us.
