Strength . . . Beauty . . . Truth . . . these three elements of life were honored above all by the ancient Greeks as the ultimate in living, the end of their strivings. And we find that, in our age, these golden essences are untarnished by time, and are still revered. We find that now, as always, the world recognizes the worth of spiritual, as well as physical strength; that people are still sensitive to beauty, that they see it as quickly in a kind smile as in a crimson sunset; that the deepest motivation in man’s soul is his search for truth. We find these three words on the Montreat College seal, reminding us that we are always to be strong, and thus to strengthen others; that we are to do what we can to make life beautiful; that we who have found the Truth must hold it high like a torch, so that its glow will light the way for others. 11 n JO 3 ■?S$S Dedication How can we, with only a few poorly chosen words, hope to express all the love and appreciation that fills so many hearts? How can we say for each of us, Thank You . . . for warmly clasping my handy for that smile I needed so much just at that moment, for the understanding I read in your eyes, for patience that never seems to exhaust itself, and most of all, for loving me just because Pm me. It is a humble gift in return for so much, but with hearts filled with more love and gratitude than words can ever tell, we dedicate the 1953 Sun Dial to one who very nearly perfectly exemplifies the noblest of human life, Strength, Beauty, and Truth . . . 4 HOWERTON HALT,, College Dormitory 6 7 THE INFIRMARY ('ROSBY Ml)AMS FINE MRTS BUILDING, Music Studios ,ASSEMBLY INN, Dining Room Mon treat by Moonlight Dam Below Lake Susan Lakeside Fountain by Montreat Cate 9 MINERVA Faculty 10 PRESIDENT THOMAS M. We arc filled with deep love for Montrcat and its helpful guidance in finding our predestined paths of service. We are grateful for those friends whose faithfulness during our four-vear sojourn has made happiness a way of life. We arc overcome by our realization that what we have learned here will be as a beacon light down the darkened paths of the future. We are happy because we can gather all Montrcat has given us and in the form of memories carry it with us always. With tear-filled eyes, hearts overflowing with love and gratitude, and memories enough to last a life time, we sadly depart to continue our sojourn of destiny. 18 FAYE BRITT li.S., Business Education “Faycus” . . . quiet poise . . . long hair . . . sleeping late . . . loyalty to the Air Force . . . movies . . . questions concerning the future . . . senior biology . . . high school typing.
