.i 3 THE SENIOR CLASSES OF MONTREAT COLLEGE MONTREAT. NORTH CAROLINA. PRESENT OL IQ .0 Jbmi [j iaL GERTRUDE PHILLIPS, Editor-in-Chief NANCY GASTON, Business Manager doctor amat T 'et S n pencer In appreciation of her patient understanding of the student; of her perseverance in maintaining high standards; of her constant striving for the improvement of the College; of her unique combination of the practical and the idealistic; of her accomplishments in her seven years as dean; of her ability in student relations, administration, and scholarship; of her worihy conception of the teacher's task; of her self dedication to the education of youth. iJ'oreivorcI In editing the 1940 Sun Dial. our aim has been to present a picture of the typical Montreat girl from the many different sides of college-life at Montreat —in dormitory life, classes, activities, and sports. Our hope is that this annual will, in years to come, not only maintain the true purpose and value of a yearbook, but will perpetuate a fondness for our Alma Mater and friendships made at Montreat.
