FOREWORD As we the graduating class of 1969 look back over the past year and review our many accomplishments, we realize that this is the beginningof our lives as responsible citizens and not the end of our education . The teachers we have known these past few years have added new dimensions to our lives. Each one gave us more knowl- edge of the world and the people in it . We remember the times when all of the teachers piled on the lessons the night of the sectional. How were we ever going to get our assignments donej we asked. Somehow we did manage. How many times did we have to call on a fellow student for help with our lessons ' Some days we had to ask the questions about certain home- work. At other times we understood and could help others. We thought we hated to do lessons, but we now realize how much we did learn from them . To keep students busy inbetween lessons, classes, and outside jobs, someone invented a solution to the problem --extracurricular activities! There were ball games to go to, yearbook deadlines to meet and dances to decorate for. Our parents often wondered if we lived at home or at school . Many nights they had to wait for a bus that was late in getting back from the game . Or they had to run a taxi service from the school to our home. Often times we failed to express our appreciation to our parents for these small favors. We would like to thank them now. Thank you. Hours of student preparation went into each program before it was presented, such as the class plays, operettas, music programs. These were the hours in which class members got to know and to get along with each other. They were hours of hard work, but the work was re- warded by a sense of achievement and success. However, we cannot forget that new experiences in the future will bring to us new goals, achievements and friends. These new factors will enable us to broaden our interests. These pertain to the seniors going on to higher education as well as to the under- classmen going to the new Blackford County High School . The class of 1969 has been able to succeed in many areas of school life. A few of these accomplishments follow: Magazine Sales --We are very proud to have been the first class

to achieve our set goal and to have exceeded the goals of all pre- ceding classes . Adding incentive to the magazine sales is the fact that the class would pay a proportional amount toward the purchase of the class ring if the student sold over forty dollars worth of magazines . Class Plays --The class plays enabled the participating students to display their lack of talent and to get to know and like their fel- low classmates . Through the help of Sandra Stroup and Ann Kerr, the plays were done in fine form . Prom-- Roman Holiday given bytheclass of 1969 was noted by many as being the best prom given by any class at Montpelier High School . An enthusiastic spirit prevailed during the week preceding the prom, all of the members of the class cooperated in the deco- rating. This prom was another one of the many fine achievements of this years graduating class . The Bell --It has been the challenge of many previous classes to succeed in removal of the school bell from the roof of the building. A few members of this years seniors were successful in this mag- nificent feat as they did remove the bell from the roof a week be- fore graduation . It is the wish of this class to mount the bell on the front school lawn in memory of all previous graduates. All remain- ing class funds will be contributed toward this goal after the reno- vation of the present high school is completed. The class of 1969 does not bid a sad farewell, but a happy one for it is just the beginning of our lives as responsible citizens of our community and our country. Some of us will go on to trade schools or colleges and others have plans to marry and raise fami- lies . The alumni may look back over their years of schooling with fond memories, recalling their teachers and lasting friendships. In this annual, we hope to recall all of those good ' ole school days. This farewell is not only for the Class of 1969, but it is for every- one who graduated from Montpelier High School. The underclass- men have a bright future ahead with a new and better equipped high school to attend.
