CC 77 oo i U The girls' and boys' glee clubs presented the Christmas play, Good Will, written and directed by Miss Sutton. The accompanist was Donna Mason. At the rise of the curtain grade school students were singing Christmas carols outside the Rankin home. Mrs. Rankin-Eva lean Sholty, a friendly lady, gave them refreshments. Later in the evening Mrs. Harper-Dorothy Beit, director of the church Christmas pag- eant, Helen-Patty Ellison, and ButheBetty Bose Spaulding called to talk over the pageant with the Bankinseand to get permission to have it in their home. CarolynfBetty Ann Cline, their invalid daughter, was chosen to take the leading part. The pageant was the story of the birth of lesus. Miss Prudence Mary Marine, owner oi the Buthertord School for Girls, is having finan- cial trouble keeping the school going. Word that Kay Sutton, a rich girlf-Iunetta Towns, is coming to the school, saves everything, tor it keep the other rich students, Flobelle Berthon W-Ioan Murphy: Ginger BeideBetty Grove, and Cindy Dalexf-Xvis Anthony, from leaving. Tom Brown Holland Shadle and Bud IonesfDean Herr, two rich boys, lose their money to a swindler, Henri DuErayne Keith Dickasony so they stop at Miss Prudence's school for work. Kay complicates things for the boys by running their car into a fence. The constable, led Buell lim Phillips, makes the boys pay tor the fence. When a telegram comes stating that Kay Sutton is not coming to the school, Tom and Bud, not knowing who Kay is, ask her to impersonate Kay Sutton. When she puts on a party and writes checks lett and right signing Kay Sutton's name, the boys are worried, The play ends with the arrival ot Stephen Sutton, Kay's father Eugene Gerardg the boys' getting their money back: Henri going to iail: and Kay, Tom, Cindy, and Bud going for a ride in the old ford.

dun cm ,4 gmt ramafic The purpose of this club is to promote public speaking, improve acting ability, and present plays for the enjoyment of the public. The sponsors are Miss Albertson and Miss Nelson. The officers are president, lunior Poulsong vice- president, Bose Wunderbaumg secretary, Betty Lee, and treasurer, Vera Morgan. On October l2 a party was held to initiate the new members: Iohn Marine, Bob Smith, lack Burson, Kenneth Shannon, Eva Sholty, and Marcia Sutton. They were given a real welcome into the club. ln November the club presented a Thanksgiving play, Proposal by Proxy, in which all the mem- bers took part. The play was the story of Iohn Alden and Priscilla Mullins. In the play a spinning wheel given to the school by Miss Sinclair was used, The main characters were Miles StandisheTom Mc- Kean, Iohn AldenwBilly Martin, Priscilla Mullins--eWanda Bantz, Prologues-Esther Bennett and Ken- neth Shannon. A Christmas party was held at the home of Miss Albertson. Games were played, gifts were ex- changed, and a delicious lunch of ice cream, cake and soft drinks was served. Before the seniors grad- uate, a party will be held to give them a real send-off when they leave the club and the school. The un- der-classmen will be in charge of this party. nom. A Good Egg was presented by the Iunior Class of '44. Iunior Clayton-Billy Martin comes home with a poor report card: therefore his parents, Dr. Clayton -Ralph Martin and Mrs. Clayton-Eva lean Sholty, make him study during his vacation: and his pal, Bumps Bicknell-Ronald Noller, thinks he is going to have a horrible vacation when he learns that his cousin, Pert Bicknell-Vera Morgan, is coming to spend a week with him. The two boys, who are always looking for a mystery to solve so that they can become heroes, are mystified when they see a hold-up along the highway outside the town. The mystery deepens when they hear Vivian Clayton-Edna McCammon and Iunior's girl friend, lean Gillespie-Betty Ann Cline, prac- ticing a murder play under the direction of their English teacher, Lorrine MaynardeMargar'et Park. Thinking that Iean's brother is the murderer, the two boys are determined to solve the mystery. The real murderer, Iimmy-Bud Cary, comes to the doctor to have his gun-shot wound treated. Laura, the maid -eEsther Bennett, who is in love with him, hides him in the Clayton home and treats his wounds. Find- ing limmy in the house and believing him to be in love with Vivian, Iunior promises to help him escape if he will forget her. The arrival of Gillespie, Iean's brother-Clayton Ford, to see the senior play, and to take Viv and lean back for a screen test, shows the boys that Jimmy is the real murderer, and they de- cide to turn him in. When Laura and timmy come downstairs to escape, Iunior gives Iimmy Q hypo- dermic containing dope, which in a few minutes makes him L1I1COr1SCiOuS. Then Iunior and Bumps turn him in. They use the reward money for their registrations in a college,
