Chrissie catches up on the latest. To the Class of 1981: Tradition in many cases is accepted by people because it tends to denote stability, as well as a comfort level. Now and then a break from tradition in the form of a new way to accomplish an end result is good for all of us. You, the Class of 1981, have experienced a major break from traditional practices in that all 1981 graduates in Vermont must have met the Basic Competency requirements prior to being granted a diploma. While you may have felt at times that this was a real imposition and have asked the question, “Why us?' just keep in mind that change has to start at some point in time and if well handled will be of considerable benefit to those who follow. To this end you are to be commended in the way you have cooperated with the school staff and entered into the compe- tency process in a very positive manner. Your leadership qual- ities as a class reflect the individual initiatives which will be of considerable value to each of you in the years to come.
