They were placed in two leagues which inspired the coach, Mr. Brazen, and the boys to surpass themselves by bringing home two trophies. The fellows have been playing together for quite some time, and through ability and organized effort, our team managed to get the two trophies by winning all the games in both leagues. In the tournament, 'Pelier won their first game but were eliminated when they were defeated by Bryan in the second game. The students of Montpelier High were certainly proud of their outstanding baseball team. As far as we are concerned, the '56 season was chalked up as a success, or as Coach Brazen described the season to me, It was great. 5 mx Q

Mr. Barcus, Mr. Taylor, Mayor Allen, The I-lon. Govemor Lausche. Government Day Every year for the past five years, Government Day has been held at Montpelier High School, Over 300 students from Williams County participate in this program. Prior to workshop, meetings were held with a planning committee of teachers and two students selected by the school. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the problems which the youth wanted to discuss, After the committees were chosen, a training period was set up by Lawrence J. Taylor of Hillsdale College to brief the students who would help run the workshop, On the day of the big occassion, students and teachers assembled in the Montpelier auditorium to ask questions, During the meeting the secretary recorded the six proposed questions and the group decided upon the one which their spokesman would ask the appropriate panel official. The state, county, and municipal officials participating in the project were seated in the front of the auditorium. Each panel of officials was designated by printed signs. Featured at the'meeting was Frank Lausche, John Brown, Floyd Barcus, Dr, Lawrence Taylor at Drake. li
