Parisian Theme Features the Junior-Senior Banquet of I956 A street scene in Paris, featuring a sidewalk cafe formed the setting of the annual Junior -Senior Ban- quet in the Montpelier High School Gymnasium on a Friday evening. Emphasizing the theme Evening in Paris , two walls were marked with paintings, drawings, and red and white striped awnings. Carts of flowers flanked the bandstand at one end of the room. At the other end was a white mural of a Paris street painted on a black background by Linda Kilpat- rick. The Juniors and Seniors assembled in the auditorium for the processional to the banquet at 7 o'clock. This procession was led by the faculty. The small tables, each seating four guests, and the speaker 's table were laid with red and white cloths and napkins, and centered with lighted candles in bottles marked with dripping wax. waitresses in colorful costumes were the sophomore girls who showed the group to the tables under the direction of the head waiters. Miss Judy Oppenheim, president of the junior class, welcomed the guests. The response was given by James Martin, the senior class president. Magical Nonsense a combination of magic and comedy presented by a Ft. Wayne, entertainer served as an interlude between the banquet and the dance. Evening in Paris products were won in a special drawing by Cynthia Pfeiffer during the dance. Norm Klondik and his orchestra from Bowling Green provided the music. Mr. and Mrs. George Foley were hosts at a special midnight show for the juniors and seniors following the dance. The entire junior class took part in planning the banquet, each serving on a special committeeg and the dinner was prepared by the mothers of the juniors. ' as 10

4 0 SPRINEANCE. Spring Festival The Spring Festival is an event that is held every year. The first evening the Grade School and High School Bands give their program. The second evening is a formal affair in which the vocal groups consisting of the boy's and girl 's Glee Clubs, the ACappella Choir, and the Octet present their music. The music for this event is under the direction of Mr. Williams. Following the performance on the second night, a dance is held in the gymnasium for which the school orchestra furnishes the music. 12
